This study examines the impact of water disruptions on productivity in African manufacturing firms. Using data from World Bank enterprise surveys across multiple African countries, the study found that the number of hours per day without water is a negative and significant determinant of firm productivity. Water disruptions seem to most significantly impact productivity in firms located in Uganda and Zambia as well as those operating in the food, chemicals, and construction industries.
