About this document

Understanding Semiconductor Basics by dopetech54 is a document available to read on EtoBox.

Semiconductors, such as silicon and germanium, have electrical properties between conductors and insulators, with their conductivity controlled by doping with impurities. N-type semiconductors are created by adding pentavalent impurities, resulting in excess free electrons, while P-type semiconductors are formed by introducing trivalent impurities, leading to an abundance of holes. The majority carriers in N-type materials are electrons, whereas in P-type materials, they are holes.
