The study presents ultrasmall Pt2Sr alloy nanoparticles supported on N-doped carbon as effective bifunctional electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction and hydrogen evolution in acidic media. The Pt2Sr/NC exhibits significantly enhanced mass activities compared to traditional Pt/C, with a remarkable retention rate after prolonged operation. DFT calculations reveal that the incorporation of Sr into Pt optimizes the electronic structure, reducing energy barriers for the reactions.
