What is Influential African Monarchs and Empires about?

Queen Ahhotep of Ancient Egypt, who flourished around 1713 BC, played a key role in saving Ancient Egypt during wars of succession after the Hyksos invasion. As regent for her son, King Kamose, she led Egyptian armies that drove the Hyksos out of Egypt, restoring it to native Egyptian rule. Her military leadership was instrumental in defeating the Hyksos and allowing Egypt to enter a new period of strength and stability under the 18th Dynasty.
