What is Diagnosis of intraductal component in breast cancer using contrast-enhanced ultrasonography with Levovist about?

The aim of this study was to evaluate microbubble contrast enhancement in distinguishing malignant from benign axillary nodes. Methods: We investigated 30 axillary nodes in patients with breast cancer using contrast-enhanced ultrasound (US). Nodal vascular features and contrast agent transit times were recorded. Results: Pathologic analysis revealed 20 malignant and 10 benign axillary nodes. Malignant nodes had a higher total number and higher number of peripheral vessels at baseline and after contrast administration (pϽ0.01), and a longer enhancement duration (pϽ0.01) compared with benign nodes. Conclusions: Malignant axillary nodes had a higher total number and higher number of peripheral vessels compared with benign axillary nodes. Therefore, contrast-enhanced US might be useful in the differentiation of benign and malignant axillary nodes.
