Conclusions: On preliminary analysis, there is great variability in the location of point H, just as in point A. The location is significantly influenced by the treatment ovoid size. It is also not sufficiently clear of the high-gradient region of the dose distribution to not be affected. Consequently, prescribing to point H is not necessarily more consistent than prescribing to point A. The doses to the bladder and rectum are not significantly different between the two dose-prescriptions. Additional data are being collected, but current dose-specification to point A should remain the clinical standard in HDR brachytherapy for cervical carcinoma.
