The Oklahoma City bombing occurred on April 19, 1995 when Timothy McVeigh detonated a large fertilizer bomb attached to a rental truck outside the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, killing 168 people. McVeigh was a Gulf War veteran who held anti-government views and wanted to retaliate against the federal government for the Waco siege and Ruby Ridge incident.
