About this document

Fundamentals of Building Construction-2 by onutz023380 is a document available to read on EtoBox.

Pile hammers are massive weights lifted by the energy of steam, compressed air, compressed hydraulic fluid, or a diesel explosion. Single-acting hammers fall by gravity alone; double-acting are forced downward by reverse application of the energy source that lifts the hammer. Piles can be driven more efficiently by vibration than by a heavy hammer, using a special vibratory hammer mechanism.
