This CRT TV was brought in for repair of a pincushion problem. The technician cleaned the inside of the dusty TV and tested components but did not find any issues. The screen had a pincushion distortion, where the edges were pinched inward. By tracing the circuit back from the vertical coil, the technician discovered the diode supplying the coil was testing okay but failing under load. Replacing this diode resolved the pincushion problem and restored a full screen picture.
