About this document
Electrolysis of Aqueous NaCl Solutions by Rajat Goorbin is a document available to read on EtoBox.
This document describes an electrolytic cell containing an aqueous NaCl solution. At the cathode, hydrogen gas is produced from hydrogen ions through the reaction 2H++2e-→H2(g). At the anode, chlorine gas is produced from chloride ions through the reaction 2Cl-→Cl2+2e-. The overall reaction is 2H++2Cl-→H2+Cl2.
