LOD refers to the Level of Development or Level of Detail of Building Information Modeling (BIM) elements. There are 5 LOD definitions ranging from LOD 100 which is a conceptual representation to LOD 500 which is an as-built verified representation. A model may not meet all requirements to be a specific LOD but could qualify as an intermediate level, such as LOD 350. Additionally, a federated model combines different trades which may have varying LODs, such as electrical at LOD 300 while HVAC is at LOD 400.
