What is Onion Yellow Dwarf Virus Genome in Garlic about?

The first nearly complete genome sequence of the onion yellow dwarf virus (OYDV) infecting garlic in Iran was reported, consisting of 10,212 nucleotides and encoding a polyprotein of 3,403 amino acids. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the Iranian isolate clusters with OYDV isolates from Australia, Spain, China, and India, showing significant genetic similarity. Additionally, a putative recombination event was detected in the NIb gene, highlighting the complexity of garlic viral infections in the region.
