About this document
Steelmaking Process Overview by Ashik Uz Zaman is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Integrated steelmaking operations involve three main phases: reduction, refining, and shaping & coating. Reduction uses a blast furnace to reduce iron ore to metallic iron using coke. Refining lowers the carbon content in hot metal through oxidation and adds alloying materials in a basic oxygen or electric arc furnace. Finally, shaping & coating involves continuously casting the liquid steel and rolling it to produce various steel products and apply coatings.
