The macrocyclic complexes of types [UOz(mac)-(NO,),], [VO(mac)] SO4 and [ZrO(mac)HzO] Cl2 or [Zr(OH),(mac)] Cl\* (where mat = macrocyclic ligands derived by condensation of benzil or diacetyl with diamines, carbohydrazide and thiocarbohydrazide) have been prepared by in situ method or by the reactions of metal salts with presynthesized ligands. The stoichiometry of the complexes has been proposed on the basis of elemental analyses, conductance and magnetic moment data. The coordination behaviour of the ligands has been determined with the help of spectroscopic (infrared and electronic) studies. Probable structures of the complexes are proposed.
