What is FDR about?

Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected President of the United States on January 1st, 1929, defeating Herbert Hoover. Roosevelt served the longest presidential term. He was elected during the Great Depression and created the New Deal program to provide relief for the unemployed, economic recovery, and reform of financial systems. Roosevelt also established the Social Security system and served as president from 1929 until his death in 1945.
