Multiple drugs ## Malignant-hyperthermia, propofol infusion syndrome and lack of efficacy: case report A 47-year-old man developed malignant hyperthermia following administration of fentanyl, propofol, remifentanil, rocuroniumbromide and sevoflurane for anaesthesia, and propofol infusion syndrome following administration of propofol. Additionally, he exhibited lack of efficacy to dantrolene, rocuronium bromide and plasma during treatment of for malignant hyperthermia, propofol infusion syndrome or tachypnoea [not all routes and dosages stated; durations of treatments to reaction onsets not stated]. The man presented to the hospital due to dyspnoea on exertion and his examination showed heart failure. He was diagnosed with aortic insufficiency and aortic annulus dilatation. Hence, aortic root replacement was planned. During the operation, he received inhalational fentanyl, remifentanil, rocuronium-bromide and sevoflurane for volatile inhalation anaesthesia. During the night of surgery, he received infusion of propofol 1.6-2.6 mg/kg/hour for 10 hours. Three hours post-operation, his consciousness was awakened.
