What is Robertson 1998 about?

This study investigated the availability and use of electrophysical agents (EPAs) in clinical placements used by undergraduate physiotherapy students from two universities. Over half of responding facilities used EPAs in at least 50% of treatments, with ultrasound, hot packs, TENS and interferential being most commonly available and used. The frequent use of modalities without independent evidence of clinical effectiveness raises important questions for the profession regarding teaching and research.
