What is Ovid about?

1) Romulus sought to provide wives for the citizens of Rome. He invited the virgin daughters of the Sabines to Rome to watch games. 2) During the games, the Roman men seized the Sabine women and each took a woman to his home. 3) The Sabine men were angered by this act and armed themselves, leading to a war between the Romans and Sabines. The kidnapped women intervened to broker a peace between their new Roman husbands and their Sabine fathers.
