Ibn al-Mubarak was an 8th century Khorasani scholar who was renowned for his knowledge and virtues. He studied with many prominent scholars of his time, including Malik ibn Anas. Ibn al-Mubarak was considered the foremost legal scholar and hadith transmitter of his era, with even other great imams like Ath-Thawri being considered inferior to him. He was praised for his worship, asceticism, generosity and courage. Ibn al-Mubarak dedicated his life fully to the pursuit and spread of religious knowledge.
