## REACTIONS OF A CHELATED ALKYLPALLADIUM COMPOUND Summq The chemistry of the-compound [Pa(CH&HRCH,fiMe,)Cl], (V. R = CH(C02Et)l) with nucleophilic (PPh,. pyridine. CO) and electrophilic (Hz\_ HCI) reagents is studied. Although the nucleophiles cleave the chloride bridges. they do not readily disrupt the Pd-N bond. and both V and its adducts are very stable with respect to decomposition via olefin elimination. As expected. however. H, and HCl cleave the Pd-C bond to give CH,CHRCHINMe, and either Pd metal or a palladium chloride complex. respectively.
