However, the authors would have been well advised to have included a basic publishing contract form with their comments on standard terms, similar to chapters in Daniel Sitarz's The Desktop Publisher's Legal Handbook ( LJ 3/15/89) and Brad Bunnin and Peter Beren's The Writer's Legal Companion ( LJ 1/89), each of which is better organized and provides more adequate coverage of the mechanics of copyright law. Although Bunnin and Beren's volume is, except for a new chapter on the writer as taxpayer, only a superficial revision of their Author Law & Strategies (Nolo Pr., 1983), it is recommended over this book for general public and academic libraries; however, journalism and related specialized collections may also want this for its current case analyses or to complement Sitarz's book.-- Merlin Whiteman, Indiana Univ.
