Inc has decided to retain Kuss Filtration, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cummins Fleetguard, after failing to find a strategic buyer for the business. Cummins said that, given current market conditions and Kuss's track record for profitable growth, it would continue to operate the business. Kuss has specialized in the development of filtration solutions for automotive, medical and consumer goods industries since 1949. It employs around 350 people at its headquarters in Findlay, Ohio and its small operation in Quimper, France. Kuss had been up for sale since April 2002 after Cummins determined its activities to be outside the core strategic interests of Cummins and Fleetguard (see Filtration Industry Analyst, May 2002).
