The study compared the effectiveness of electro-acupuncture and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) for chronic shoulder and neck pain. Electro-acupuncture provided significantly greater short-term pain relief than TENS. Electro-acupuncture also improved quality of life more than TENS, with no adverse effects reported for either treatment.
