About this document
Pyelonephritis Management in Pregnancy by Ria Nicole is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Pyelonephritis is a kidney infection that is more common in pregnant women. It occurs most often between the 5th and 7th month of pregnancy as the growing baby presses on the ureters, slowing urine flow. Symptoms include fever, back pain, painful urination, and blood in the urine. Treatment requires hospitalization, IV antibiotics and fluids until the infection clears. At home, antibiotics are prescribed until delivery and frequent doctor visits are needed to monitor health.
