What is Radical reactions initiated by chelate complexes of transition metals, 14. Copper(II) 2-aminoethanolate – a selective initiator for polymerization of vinyl monomers about?

## Abstract It was found that copper(II) 2‐aminoethanolate (Cumea) initiates the polymerization of methyl methacrylate but not that of styrene and acrylonitrile. The selectivity of Cumea with respect to initiation of vinyl monomers is caused by formation of monomer radicals which originate from the decay of the complex Cumea‐monomer. By adding free aminoalcohol and/or carbon tetrachloride to the system Cumea‐MMA, the complex Cumea‐MMA is not formed and the initiating radicals arise from consecutive reactions between Cumea and aminoalcohol or carbon tetrachloride. In this case formation of the initiating radicals is not dependent on the complex Cumea‐monomer; consequently, a loss of selectivity of Cumea during initiation of the polymerization of unsaturated monomers occurs.

Who reads Radical reactions initiated by chelate complexes of transition metals, 14. Copper(II) 2-aminoethanolate – a selective initiator for polymerization of vinyl monomers?

It is typically read by researchers, students, and practitioners in Chemistry.
