What is Anatomy of the Tonsils Explained about?
The tonsils are clusters of lymphoid tissue located in the throat that help protect the body from infection. There are four main groups of tonsils, including the palatine tonsils, commonly known as the tonsils. The palatine tonsils are located on either side of the throat in pockets called the tonsillar fossa. They have crypts containing immune cells and are supplied by branches of arteries from the external carotid artery and nerves from the glossopharyngeal nerve.
