Johann August Wilhelm Söder was born 6 November 1791 in Ottenstein, Kreis Holzmunden, Germany. His parents were Johann George Söder (1757-1821) and Katharine Beste (1764-1802). He married Ann Steinhage in 1824 and had two children. He married Sophia Stieve in 1827 and they had five children. He married Katherina Hentze in 1846 and they had two children. They emigrated in 1846 and settled in Columbia County, Wisconsin. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Germany, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois
