Sheikha Al Mayassa gave a talk at TEDWomen 2010 about globalizing local cultures and localizing global cultures. She discussed how Qatar is modernizing while also reconnecting with Arab cultural traditions, like women wearing the abaya. She highlighted new Qatari cultural institutions being led mainly by women, and emphasized building cultural understanding and exchange between the East and West.
