About this document

Squid Reproduction and Fun Facts by browngracie39 is a document available to read on EtoBox.

The common squid, Loligo Vulgaris, reproduces through external fertilization where males store sperm in a specialized arm to later fertilize eggs laid by females. They live in the Atlantic Ocean from Europe to West Africa and can dwell as deep as 500 meters. Despite being an invertebrate, squids have a complex nervous system and blue blood containing copper instead of iron. They propel themselves by expelling water through jets.
