MOFs are a new class of highly porous adsorbent materials with large surface areas and pore sizes and functionalities that can be tailored. They consist of inorganic coupling units connected by organic linkers and have strong potential for CO2 adsorption. Evaluation of MOFs like CPO-27, UiO-66, and UiO-66-NH2 at IIP showed CPO-27 was the best adsorbent, able to adsorb up to 25 wt% CO2 at room temperature and low pressure by bonding directly to its open metal centers.
