About this document

Understanding Nuclear Spin in NMR by Francisco Javier Escobar Medina is a document available to read on EtoBox.

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectroscopy uses the magnetic properties of certain atomic nuclei to determine the structure of organic molecules. When placed in a strong external magnetic field, nuclei with spin precess at characteristic frequencies. Nearby electrons shield nuclei to different extents, causing small frequency differences between nuclei in different chemical environments. NMR spectra show these frequency shifts as peaks, allowing identification of functional groups and molecular structure
