About this document
Theories of Mineralization Explained by Riya Goyal is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Mineralization is the deposition of mineral salts like hydroxyapatite in calcified tissues. It can occur homogenously via increased mineral ion concentration, or heterogeneously using nucleating substances as templates for crystal formation. Three main theories of mineralization are the booster, seeding, and matrix vesicle theories. The matrix vesicle theory proposes that membrane-bound vesicles shed from cells initiate mineralization by providing a nucleation site and increasing local ion concentrations th
