What is Overview of Device-to-Device Communication about?

This document provides an overview of device-to-device (D2D) communication in cellular networks. D2D communication allows nearby user equipment to communicate directly through a short-range radio link rather than routing traffic through the base station, promising benefits like ultra-low latency. The paper discusses use cases for D2D including local data sharing, coverage extension, and machine-to-machine communication. It also outlines the D2D architecture, technical challenges being researched like synchr
