This study evaluated water infiltration rates in soils with and without biological soil crusts in grasslands dominated by Bouteloua gracilis in northern Mexico. Infiltration tests were conducted using double ring infiltrometers at 64 points, half with crusts and half without. Results showed higher infiltration rates in the first 15 minutes without crusts, but from 20-60 minutes rates were faster with crusts.
