Most of us are well acquainted with Frank Lloyd Wright as America’s foremost Architect, but little is known of the horror and tragedy that almost destroys his life during his middle age.Wright is devastated when, in the summer of 1914, he learns of the gruesome ax murders, assaults and arson that occurred at Taliesin, his home and studio, located outside of Spring Green, Wisconsin; seven people died horribly and two others were seriously injured. Among the dead are Wright’s illicit lover for whom he had deserted his wife and six children, Mamah Borthwick Cheney, and her young son and daughter. The suspect is Julian Carlton, the family’s Negro handy man and butler. Carlton is captured and tortured; feelings run hot and the racially prejudiced mob attempts to lynch him.
