Newcomer Reception Centres provide assessment of English language and mathematics skills for secondary school-age newcomer students to help place them in appropriate high school programs. Students spend a day at the Centre with assessments, while parents/guardians are encouraged to attend and discuss results. Additionally, families can meet with settlement workers for support on housing, employment, and healthcare in Ontario.
