What is José María Arguedas: Multicultural Insights about?

This document summarizes the life and work of the Peruvian writer José María Arguedas. He was born in 1911 in Peru to a mestizo family and became orphaned of his mother at a young age. He found refuge in the Quechua culture of the indigenous servants, which profoundly influenced his literary work. He suffered from depression and attempted suicide twice. He wrote mainly to promote the acceptance of Quechua culture and to combat discrimination against indigenous people in Peru.
