About this document
Understanding Alpha Particles and Radiation by fdsfdsfds is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Alpha particles consist of two protons and two neutrons bound together, identical to a helium-4 nucleus. They are produced during alpha decay, where a nucleus emits an alpha particle and reduces its atomic mass and number by four and two respectively. Alpha particles have no net spin and a kinetic energy of around 5 MeV, giving them low penetration and stopping them within a few centimeters of air or skin. They are also produced through higher energy processes like ternary fission and cosmic rays.
