What is 2 Particle fillers for fibers about?
Incorporation of nanofillers in polymeric systems to fabricate fiber nanocomposites has been a popular approach in the last three decades for imparting functional attributes to textiles. In the first section of this chapter, basic characteristics of nanoparticles for nanocomposite fibers are summarized, reviewing recently published papers. The second section is devoted to the nanocomposite fiber's-spinning methods including melt-spinning, wet-spinning, dry-spinning and electrospinning. The choice of one method over another is often dictated by the physicochemical properties of the materials as well as the average diameter targeted. The last section on polymer micro-and nanocomposites focuses on the main applications including thermal comfort, flame retardant (FR), antimicrobial, electrical, and energy harvesting properties.
