CS fallback allows LTE networks to reuse existing circuit-switched infrastructure for voice and other CS services when the UE is served by an LTE network. When a UE initiates a CS service like voice calling, it is redirected from the LTE network to a 2G/3G network. CS fallback applies when 2G/3G networks cover the same area as the LTE network. It requires the SGs interface to allow location updates from the MME to the MSC/VLR.
