## Abstract For a local Cohen–Macaulay ring __R__ of finite CM-type, Yoshino has applied methods of Auslander and Reiten to compute the Grothendieck group K~0~ of the category mod __R__ of finitely generated __R__-modules. For the same type of rings, we compute in this paper the first Quillen K-group K~1~(mod __R__). We also describe the group homomorphism __R^\*^__ → K~1~(mod __R__) induced by the inclusion functor proj __R__ → mod __R__ and illustrate our results with concrete examples.
