What is Pygmy Hippopotamus: Facts and Habitat about?

The pygmy hippopotamus is a small, nocturnal forest creature native to West Africa. It is half the size of a common hippopotamus, weighing less than a quarter as much, and lives in forests and swamps. Pygmy hippos were unknown outside of West Africa until the 19th century. They are a rare and difficult animal to study in the wild, and their survival is more assured in captivity, where fewer than 3,000 are estimated to remain in the wild.
