This study assessed the efficacy and safety of roflumilast, a phosphodiesterase-4 inhibitor, in patients with moderate to severe COPD. 1411 patients were randomly assigned to receive roflumilast 250 μg, roflumilast 500 μg, or placebo orally once daily for 24 weeks. Roflumilast improved lung function and reduced exacerbations compared to placebo and was generally well tolerated, suggesting it may be a promising treatment for COPD.
