About this document
Benedict Cassen: Pioneer of Imaging by Tuấn Hồ Trọng is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Benedict Cassen invented the first radioisotope scanner in 1950, which was pivotal to the development of body organ imaging. The scanner consisted of a motor-driven scintillation detector coupled to a printer. It allowed imaging of the thyroid gland after administration of radioiodine and was widely used from the late 1950s to early 1970s to image other organs after the development of organ-specific radiopharmaceuticals.
