This document systematically reviews the relationship between intake of sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) and weight gain. It finds that greater consumption of SSBs is associated with weight gain and obesity based on evidence from large cross-sectional studies, prospective cohort studies, and short-term feeding trials.
