What is Grimm about?

Grimm finds an unusual marble game board in Peru that contains a tiny sand landscape with figures. When he fires his rifle at a bird attacking a girl figure, he finds himself transported into the game board world. Now called Dargoll, he remembers being a ruler from this world long ago. A priestess named Florella teaches him her language, and they realize he has been sent back to this world for some important reason.
