What is Enhancing Melody in Jazz Guitar Performance about?

This paper explores the importance of dynamic balance in fingerstyle jazz guitar, specifically how melody articulation can be enhanced through targeted right-hand training. A study involving twenty guitarists showed that a two-week training protocol improved the melody-to-accompaniment ratio (MAR), resulting in clearer melodic prominence and higher listener ratings. The findings suggest that dynamic balance should be a key consideration in arranging and pedagogy for effective chord-melody performance.
