Jamestown Colony: Origins and Impact by ms.kat.classes is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Jamestown, founded on May 14, 1607, was the first permanent English colony in North America, established by the Virginia Company of London to create a trade center. The colony faced challenges, including harsh winters and complex relationships with Native peoples, but survived due to the introduction of tobacco cultivation by John Rolfe and the establishment of a democratic government in 1619. Over time, Jamestown became a royal colony and the capital of Virginia until it was moved to Williamsburg in 1699.
