This study investigates the correlation between body mass index (BMI) and the age of menarche onset among Italian adolescent girls using data from the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children Study. Results indicate that higher BMI is associated with earlier menarche, with region-level median ages ranging from 12 years and 5 months to 13 years and 4 months. The findings suggest that overweight girls tend to experience early puberty, highlighting the need for further research on the cause-effect relationship
