What is High-Temperature Thin-Film Strain Gauges about?
This document describes the development of high-temperature thin-film strain gauges by ONERA for measuring blade vibrations in gas turbine engines up to 900°C. The strain gauge consists of five sputtered layers: a NiCoCrAlY coating for adhesion, an Al2O3 insulating layer, a NiCr or PdCr sensing layer, Pt lead-out tracks, and an Al2O3 or SiO2 protective layer. Initial electrical and mechanical properties are presented, showing the gauges function up to at least 700°C. Preliminary results also indicate the ga
